Company History

Sevenoaks Hi-Fi was founded over thirty years ago by Paul Lee-Kemp and Peter O’Brien as a specialist independent Hi-Fi retailer in London Road, Sevenoaks.

During the 1970s and 1980s the company traded well and opened a further ten stores, mainly in the South-East.

In 1991 it was decided to expand nationally by offering franchises and the first pilot store was opened in Cheltenham. It traded very successfully and thereafter the full franchise scheme was launched in spring 1995.

The company name was changed to Sevenoaks Sound & Vision to reflect a much broader based product range and Malcolm Blockley was appointed Franchise Director.

Now, thirteen years later, there are thirty-three stores nationwide from Aberdeen to Exeter and one store in Dublin.

A positive sign of the successful business formula is that five of our franchisees have opened second branches and one has opened a further three.
